• Submit a Kindergarten application

  • The City of Boroondara operates a central registration service on behalf of participating kindergartens. The purpose of central registration is to ensure a system of kindergarten registration, allocation and enrolment that is consistent, accessible and equitable for families.

This central registration service allocates places in 27 standalone three and four-year-old kindergartens. Please visit the Member kindergartens | City of Boroondara to view a description of each kindergarten and their session times. This service does not allocate kindergarten places at long day care centres.

    When to start kindergarten

    3-year-old kindergarten

    • Children born January to April may start after turning 3 or wait until the following year
    • Some kindergartens only accept children after their 3rd birthday
    • Starting age may affect when your child starts school

    4-year-old kindergarten

    • Your child must turn 4 by 30 April
    • Most children start in Term 1

Use the kindergarten dates calculator to calculate when your child can attend kindergarten.
