Priority of access
We support the Department of Education and Training (DET) policy direction that prioritises the inclusion of children with additional needs, children of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background, asylum seeker and refugee families with an appropriate visa and children known to Child Protection. Families that demonstrate that they have a child in one of these categories will be allocated to a kindergarten program as a high priority
No Jab No Play
An Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register is the only documentation accepted by early childhood education and care services for the purposes of confirming a child’s enrolment in their service.
Documents produced by GPs or other immunisation providers cannot be accepted as proof of immunisation.
From now on, all parents will need to provide Immunisation History Statements to early childhood services at regular intervals – not only on enrolment. This will provide additional prompts to ensure their child’s immunisation is up-to-date for their age.
